Show Us Your Life: Dining Rooms

Our dining room is basically a breakfast nook that is connected to the kitchen.

This is what it looks like right now... and most of the time to be honest. We rarely eat at this table. And if we do, everything just gets pushed down to one end to clear half of the table. Mostly it is used as my "desk" since sitting on the couch for longer than 20 minutes kills my back. It also gathers the mail, holds my purse {in the chair} and usually whatever books we are reading at the moment {James is reading "The Christian Atheist}. My book isn't on the table because I finished it at work and put it away. Oh, it is my "craft" table- as I have started making things for the nursery and other general crafts.

Moving on. We got the table recently from my father-in-law. We had gotten a table from them when we were first married and basically traded out for a newer and nicer table. I love this table. The "room" in general is kind of a small work in progress. The cabinet in the corner used to be full of pictures and cookbooks, but I am working on cleaning it out and off. I would like to move it to a new location to make room for the giant high chair that will need a place to live in the next couple of months. So yea.

This is probably my favorite part of the dining room. These lovely topiaries were one of the very first crafts I made... ever. I found them, well apparently I can't find it again. Anyways, they were super easy and cost about $15 for both of them. And what Fall decor would be complete without a pumpkin full of candy!

Show Us Your Life: Master Bedroom

This week on SUYL: master bedrooms. Our master is still a little bit of a project right now. We had everything all set, but then with the baby coming we have basically combined the office in with our master. So we now have our desk and giant (disgusting) file cabinet in the master bedroom. All in all though I am still happy with it. After buying a down comforter in Chicago this summer, we finally found a duvet cover we are happy with! I love how much it reminds me of fall with the warm colors.

This is the view from the door, looking into the back corner.
From that same back corner looking back into the living room. The open door on the right is into the bathroom and closet.

One of my favorite spots in the room. However, since this picture it has changed. My mom took the papasan to her classroom to use in her reading corner, so that we could make room for the cradle (the one that was resting in the living room).
And here is the mini office that now resides in our master bedroom. I still want something to go over the desk... but not really sure. Right now there are too many other projects (in the baby's room) to be worrying about our master.

It's a pretty simple room- although I do love it, it feels a bit cluttered to me with the whole office business. But for now, that is just the way it's going to be!

29 weeks

How far along? 29 weeks
Total
Weight gain/loss: +30
Size: Well she should now be a whopping 2 1/2 lbs and 15 inches... roughly the size of a butternut squash

Maternity clothes? Absolutely. I now have about one shirt that I can still wear that is not maternity.
Stretch Marks? Nope

Sleep: All the time... I am back to being completely exhausted. Sleeping like 8-9 hours plus a small nap almost each day. I think I am too tired to not get comfortable.

Movement: All the time- occasionally wakes me up at night

Food Cravings/Aversions: Right now everything is giving me heartburn... blah
Gender: Girl

Belly Button in or out? In, but slowly creeping out.

What I miss: being able to run. This week I actually miss running so much I am contemplating running a half marathon in May.

What I am looking forward to: Deciding on a name for this baby girl.

Weekly Wisdom: Drink lots and lots of water so your doctor doesn't yell at you!

The plan was to have James take a picture this week, but we forgot before he went to work. So this will have to do!

Today we also went to the JBF sale in Owasso. We went mainly looking for a pack-n-play, jogging stroller, and then maybe some clothes. While we did buy a few things I am proud to say that I did not go overboard on the clothes front... although I really wanted to! But I can say that this little girl is almost ready for Christmas...

We also got this awesome Fluerville diaper bag which apparently is super expensive brand new. So that's fun.

Anyways, 29 weeks has brought exhaustion and heartburn. Although the heartburn hasn't been too horrible, I am sleeping sitting up now and leaving the TUMS next to the bed!

So until next week...

Show Us Your Life: Living Room

Let me just say that this is our first home and we absolutely love it. We have lived here for almost two years! After three years of living in multiple apartments and rent houses, it is so nice to have our own place!

So the living room is the biggest room in the house, and probably the most "finished" room.  This is a view from the back of the house (the dining area) looking towards the front door. We really don't like clutter so although it is a good amount of space, there really is not a lot to it!

This is the exact opposite view, looking from the front door to the back of the house. The kitchen in on the right, with the giant wall (tv wall) on the left. The little chair and nook in the back is one of my favorite spots in this room. We love the chair because it is so unique and super comfy. We got the chair from my brother and sister-in-law and its about 10 years old. They tried to take it back once... but we could never find another one, so they let us keep it!

This is obviously the tv wall, which is giant by the way. It is the only spot that I am not completely happy with. The wall is so big that I just don't know what else to do with it. Another issue is that is has the peak of the ceiling that is in the middle of the ceiling, however it is not centered with the doors on either side of the wall. So I never am sure, do you center with the doors, or center with the ceiling. Probably pretty soon though it will house baby things- swing, pack-n-play or some kind of toy storage.

This table is very special to me because it came from my grandparents. They have a business of taking old, junky furniture and re-finishing it. So this is one of those pieces. They actually made it for us originally as a dining room table (it has slats that come out on either side to make it bigger), but I really like it as a side/sofa table.

This beauty is also on the tv wall for now... until it has a place in the Master Bedroom!

I guess that pretty much wraps up the living room!

Glucose Test

I know I already did a pregnancy post but since this little appointment is kind of a milestone, I thought I should blog about it.

I went in today to do the dreaded glucose test. When people say that it tastes like disgusting flat orange pop, they are right. What they don't tell you is that you shouldn't do it when you already feel nauseous.  I felt horrible to begin with, then after drinking a glorious (what seemed like) 20 ounces of the stuff, I kind of/definitely wanted to throw up. However, I kept it down for the time being at least. After my blood was taken though- all bets were off and yea, it didn't stay down any longer.

Also, a warning to anyone who ever needs to draw my blood... please do not stick my arms two times and then move on to my hand. Especially when I warn you and say "my friend, who is a nurse,  always says she would do it in my hand..." Annoying.

Enough of that.

Tomorrow I am planning on participating again in the "Show us Your Life Posts." Long ago, when I started this blog (the second time) I said I would at least do this post every Friday. This time I plan on taking it a step further and actually link up to the original blogger. So hopefully I will actually stick with it this time!

Pregnancy Update

How far along? 27 weeks 6 days
Total weight gain/loss: +28lbs
Maternity clothes? Almost exclusively... I can still wear a few select shirts that have zero shape to them, but that is it!
Stretch Marks? None thank goodness! I hate stretch marks. Although I am sure they will come, the later the better!
Sleep: Back to the tired all the time feeling that happened the first 18 weeks... long gone is my energy.
Best moment this week: getting medicine so I can hear out of right ear (yes, I know that is not related to the pregnancy, but after a week and a half of not being able to hear, I am excited)
Movement: Constantly! She is all over the place, all the time!
Food Cravings/Aversions: nothing new... so far the list is: marshmellows (especially roasted), mustard, pickle spears & white queso
Gender: Girl
Size Comparison: a small football
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: being able to run. I could still do about 2 miles (with walking breaks) until about a week ago... no more running until January.
What I am looking forward to: upcoming showers!! Time to get this nursery all settled
Weekly Wisdom: It is not a good idea to eat banana pudding for breakfast...
Milestones: not sure if this is a milestone- but now you can see her moving from the outside. This is amazing, yet a little creepy! Oh and she is 2lbs 12 oz. Pretty sure that is kind of giant for right now, but my doctor seems to think this is great news!

Just so you know until today I have not taken a single picture of myself being pregnant. It was all weird at the beginning because for a long time you just look fat and not pregnant. Then somewhere along the way I started to actually look pregnant but have never been too fond of prego pics. However, James thinks I will want to have pictures of when I was pregnant. So at almost 28 weeks I will start taking pictures to document how giant I get in the next 12 weeks.

27 weeks 6 days

We have started the nursery. I didn't want it to be super girly or totally pink. It took a really long time but finally decided on doing mostly greens with a little bit of pink and brown (at James' request). It is coming together nicely. My favorite thing about this room is the paint. I saw on a different blog a room with neutral stripes and fell in LOVE!! We went through 6 sample colors to get the right ones. So after 2 nights of paint the base coat and ceiling and 10 hours of James' hard work it is finally done. If I may say so myself it is AMAZING and PERFECT. It is exactly what I wanted. The best news to James was that I promised to never make him paint this room again. For as long as we live in this house, there will be stripes!

It is a little bit darker than it actually looks in the picture!

I think that is all I have to say about pregnancy right now! But I would be happy to field any questions!

Blogging again... for real!

So I am starting this blog again. Yes, I am aware I have said this about four times. Yes, I am aware that this lasted all of one day each time before. What is different this time? Well, nothing really. I mean I would say it is because I am not pregnant and I want to write about everything I am thinking and feeling... but I have now been pregnant for over six months and haven't felt the urge to blog about it yet.

I guess maybe I want to try blogging again because I love reading (stalking) them so much. I read blogs written by people I know in real life... and I read a TON of blogs written by people I have absolutely no connection, but happened upon for whatever reason.

I guess I want to blog because my husband keeps thinking I will make scrapbooks of things (especially after baby is born). However, I just don't see this happening. So blogging is kind of a way to appease that issue.

I guess I want to blog again because now I actually have some time on my hands. School has been such a priority the last, oh, five years that I have been taking 20+ hours every semester, working 30+ hours and completing internships in between. Every bit of my time has been consumed by those two things as well as being involved in church stuff. So now that the whole college thing is done, I have a day or two each week in which I find myself "off". Blogging is just one of those things that I should have time for now... although that could all change in the next 10-13 weeks, as we welcome our baby girl.

I am not going to be too hard on myself, but I am going to try to make this an actual thing.

So here goes nothing...
